Towards an Intrinsic Doppler Correction for X-ray Spectroscopy of Stored Ions at CRYRING@ESR

We report on a new experimental approach for the Doppler correction of X-rays emitted by heavy ions, using novel metallic magnetic calorimeter detectors which uniquely combine high spectral resolution with broad bandwidth acceptance. The measurement was carried out at electron cooler CRYRING@ESR GSI, Darmstadt, Germany. X-ray emission associated radiative recombination electrons and stored hydrogen-like uranium ions investigated two microcalorimeter positioned under 0∘ 180∘ respect to ion beam axis. This setup allowed investigation region N, M → L transitions in helium-like unmatched previous studies conventional semiconductor detectors. When assuming that rest-frame energy least few recorded is well-known from theory or experiments, precise shifted line positions laboratory system can be used determine velocity only information. achievable should, first time, allow intrinsic performed precision spectroscopy ions. A comparison data experiment ESR cooler, as well method conducting parameters, will discussed.
